Recho Rey is not here to sugarcoat things especially when it comes to how she handles her music career behind the scenes. The female rapper recently revealed that when it comes to management, she prefers working with men. Why? One word: emotions.
In a candid media interview, Recho real name Mirembe Racheal said she finds male managers easier to work with because they tend to have higher emotional intelligence and can keep things calm, even when she’s not in the best headspace.
“We’re so emotional! For a female to manage another female, she has to be super strong. With guys, it’s different my manager Trace knows how to handle me. Even when I’m moody or off, he stays calm and doesn’t feed into the drama,” she shared.
Recho is currently managed by stylist Trace De Lines, who’s been in her corner since her split with former manager Apple (Arnold Ssempijja). And while the industry is full of horror stories about male managers crossing boundaries, she made it clear her experience has been the complete opposite.
“He’s aggressive with the hustle, respectful, and business-minded. That’s what’s kept us going,” she added.
But before the ladies come for her in the comments, Recho made it clear she’s not completely against having a female manager. In fact, she’d love to have a woman on her styling team, especially when it comes to wardrobe and glam.
“Sometimes you need that female touch, especially when it comes to how you show up on stage and in the media,” she said.
So there you have it for Recho Rey, it’s less about gender and more about vibes, understanding, and keeping the business tight. And if her hits are anything to go by, it’s clearly working.
