She’s bold, she’s booked, and she’s never afraid to speak her mind. Etania Mutoni, aka Life of the Party, has sent out a clear message to fellow and upcoming female DJs drop the drama and focus on your brand.

Taking to her Snapchat, Etania didn’t hold back as she addressed the growing whispers of rivalry among female DJs in Uganda’s buzzing nightlife and entertainment scene. Her message? The industry is big enough for everyone so let the music do the talking.

“Don’t fear joining the industry because you see other girls doing it. There’s space for all of us,” she wrote. “The real issue isn’t competition, it’s branding. That’s where we need to level up.”

Known for her high-energy sets, fashion-forward looks, and fire mic work, Etania is one of Uganda’s leading female DJs and MCs and she’s using her platform to push for more unity and growth, not keyboard wars and silent shade.

Etania also admitted that she’s still evolving, calling herself “a work in progress”, but her dream is clear: to see Ugandan female DJs and MCs blow up beyond borders and be recognized across Africa.

“We need to aim higher. We need superstar DJs from Uganda. Big names. Big branding. Big presence,” she added.

As the Ugandan entertainment scene gets louder and more competitive, Etania’s advice is a refreshing reminder that collaboration competition, and that lifting each other up doesn’t dim anyone’s spotlight.

So to the next generation of beat queens take notes from the Life of the Party: build your brand, know your worth, and don’t let internet beef distract you from the bag.
