Renowned Ugandan saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa is set to celebrate three decades of jazz excellence with a grand concert on July 20th at the Kampala Serena Hotel, in a night that promises smooth sounds, rich heritage, and heartfelt moments.

The event, aptly titled “Isaiah Katumwa: 30 Years of Jazz”, is more than a concert it’s a tribute to a legacy that has helped shape Uganda’s jazz scene. Adding even more rhythm to the celebration is Tusker Malt, who joins the milestone as the official beer sponsor.
Speaking at the launch, Denise P. Nazzinda, Premium Beers Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), said Katumwa’s journey mirrors Tusker Malt’s brand philosophy.
“Isaiah’s 30-year journey is a story of timeless craft and consistency values we strongly identify with. We are proud to support this celebration of musical mastery,” she said.
Tusker Malt has long championed music through initiatives like Tusker Malt Conversessions, with Nazzinda hinting at hopes of hosting Katumwa in the future.

Katumwa got emotional during the press briefing, reflecting on his rise from humble beginnings as a self-taught saxophonist, to sharing global stages with jazz icons like Manu Dibango and Hugh Masekela.
“It all started with a broken saxophone and a dream. This journey isn’t just about me it’s about inspiring others. That’s what legacy is,” he shared, fighting back tears as he recognized the young jazz talents he now mentors.
His sound a fusion of smooth jazz, African rhythm, and Christian soul has become a signature blend that continues to inspire.
The night will also feature performances by celebrated Ugandan artists including Michael Kitanda, Joseph Sax, Myko Ouma, and Shaka Mayanja, making it a must-attend for jazz lovers.
Tickets are available via Quicket, the Vision Digital Experience app, and at New Vision offices, with corporate tables and early bird rates available for a limited time.
This is not just a concert it’s a celebration of jazz history in the making.
