It was love, vibes, and a sprinkle of drama as Frank Gashumba sealed the deal with his sweetheart Patience Mutoni Malaika in a colorful Gusaba and engagement ceremony held in Sembabule yesterday.

The event was glamorous, attended by the who’s who in Kampala’s social scene from Balaam Barugahara, Hon Amber, and fashion mogul Abryanz to the ever-glowing Sheilah Gashumba, who showed up to support her dad’s big day.
But of course, where Sheilah is, the Internet follows.
Soon after the ceremony, the TV host and socialite took to her X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate her father with a heartfelt message. However, what got tongues wagging was what she didn’t say specifically, choosing to refer to her father’s new wife as Malaika, not mum.

“Congratulations my father Mr. Frank Gashumba on your engagement and Gusaba. You looked soo happy yesterday. Wishing you the absolute best, happiness and love in your new journey with Malaika,” she posted.
And just like that, boom — X exploded with opinions, unsolicited advice, and “why didn’t you call her mum?” energy.
One bold comment came from media personality Simon Kaggwa Njala, who asked what many were already thinking, Cant you say “mum”?
But trust Queen Sheilah to clap back with class and a little cheek. she simply laughed off the comment and made it clear that “mum” is a title reserved for one person only her biological mother.
“y’all play too much, Unfortunately I can’t, i will only call the woman who gave birth to me ‘mum’ so everyone must calm down. Wama congratulations beautiful Malaika. I need two siblings,” she responded.
And just like that, the Internet had its tea for the day.
